About RS4
What We Do
As incredible as it is that so many people ride a bike from San Francisco to Los Angeles every year, they don't do it non-stop. There are several places to stop along the way - both "official" and .not so much. The unofficial stops can be anything - a local coffee shop in Santa Cruz that gives out free coffee to riders on Morning 2, a "Paradise Pit" in Santa Barbara with massages and ice cream, or a clothing-optional swimming establishment good for evening out tan lines.
The official stops fall into three categories - lunch stops, water stops and rest stops. Rest Stop 4, as the name suggests, is the fourth and last rest stop before camp - and we are its 13 members. Some of us have done this before, some of us converted from riders and, for some of us, this will be our first Ride.
Members of all the rest stops tend to do something special to entertain the cyclists - and RS4 is no exception. By the time the riders have reached Rest Stop 4, they tend to be sore, cranky, bloated with Gatorade and in desperate (DESPERATE) need of a shower. Beyond providing water, more Gatorade and food, we see it as our job to give riders one last boost to get them into camp.
How do we do it? Well, you'll have to be there to find out.
